Lomography
Everyone's pretty familiar with the Lomo camera that was born in St.Petersburg, Russia.
It became a conversation piece and a fun toy in the 90's - embracing the quirky side of analogue as the world started to move to digital.
Well the conversation is most certainly not dead and this great store in London does a good job of keeping the volume up.
The store - known as the Lomography Gallery - captures the spirit of Lomography as explained in this Wikipedia quote:
"Lomography emphasizes casual, snapshot photography. Characteristics such as over-saturated colors, off-kilter exposure, blurring, "happy accidents," and alternative film processing are often considered part of the "Lomographic Technique." Users are encouraged to take a lighthearted approach to their photography, and use these techniques to document everyday life, as the Lomo LC-A's small size, simple controls, and ability to shoot in low light encourages candid photography, photo reportage, and photo vérité through the much-touted 10 Rules."
Camera or toy? It doesn't really matter but it sure is fun. Check out the gallery/store on Newburgh Street
