Hotel Esencia

(download)

We've just spent a few fantastic days at the hotel Esencia just south of Playa Del Carmen in Mexico.

If you are seeking tranquility, great service and excellent food, then Esencia should be on your list.

However, it's also a great site for kite surfing and visiting the ruins in Tulum.

All the pictures of the last few days have been from Esencia including the ones here.

Me Gusta Mexico

(download)

Just arrived in Mexico as we look to enjoy a few days in the warmth and sun before heading off to San Francisco to live.

I'm really excited about my move to Cutwater and working alongside Chuck McBride and the brilliant team they have in place.

This is going to be a fantastic year.

While here in Mexico, the primary focus of my posts will be on the story of our journey over the last year not because I want to open up a personal journal of our lives to others but I want to share a story that may be relevant to others in the future. It will be personal, so you can take a break from this site for the next few days if you want or you hopefully can enjoy our story.

Thanks for hanging around and listening.

Crack Kills Innocents

Large_cracksun

The drug problem in Mexico is now main news and the death toll is beyond belief.

Since Mexico's new President came in to power three years ago, there have been over 18,000 deaths.

The US has placed Mexico in the same bracket as Pakistan as countries most at risk of becoming "failed states". Yet the funds going to Mexico to help support the fight against drug crime is a pittance.

This article in the British Times by Michael Reid of the Economist, is a good primer http://bit.ly/bicLv7
