Nick Gold's project to bring Mali and Cuban music together finally has happened.
His original goal of getting the two nationalities together fell through leaving him only with the Cuban contingent, which didn't work out too badly for him as this created the Buena Vista Social Club, which in turn sold millions of records.
The gathering could only connect for one week in Madrid to make the recording but I can guarantee after hearing the soon to be released album, there's enough magic on this recording to ensure these guys will be touring together lots.
